Big Kahuna Timing and JDL Fast Tack

Big Kahuna Timing would like to express our appreciation to Craig Longhurst and David Shannon of JDL Fast Track for the privilege of working events at their amazing facility over the past twelve years.

In late 2011 we travelled to Winston-Salem to visit the under-construction JDL Fast Track facility and to meet with Craig Longhurst. We were impressed with the facility and with the vision Craig shared concerning the impact JDL Fast Track could have for the future of Track & Field in North Carolina.

We were honored to provide the timing services for the debut of the facility in January 2012. 

When Craig later created the weeknight meet program he asked Big Kahuna Timing to provide the timing services for those events. We accepted that challenging task for the past 10 years and have enjoyed working 20+ events per season with a wide range of organizing groups.

At the end of the 2022-2023 season, changes in our family commitments, health issues and other responsibilities made it necessary to scale back our schedule. That included the very difficult decision to step away from our working relationship with JDL Fast Track. Craig Longhurst was very supportive of that decision, and we continue to enjoy a cherished friendship with Craig and his crew at JDL Fast Track.

It is impossible to measure the full impact JDL Fast Track has had on Track & Field in North Carolina. They have provided opportunities for the full range of competitive levels – from the smallest high school programs to college and elite athletes. 

During our tenure at JDL Fast Track, we have always been impressed with the high level of professionalism exhibited by Craig and his staff. It has been an honor for Big Kahuna Timing to have had a small role in the success of JDL Fast Track.  We wish everyone in the organization the very best in the years to come.
